Partners in Care: Go, team!

Joan Coffman, jcoffman@stph.org

Dear Partner in Care,

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or not, it’s been impossible not to notice that another football season has kicked off here in South Louisiana.

Depending on where your loyalties lie, your expectations might be sky-high for the coming season or they might be somewhat tempered. No matter what team colors run through your veins, though, you’ve got to admire the teamwork on display week in and week out.

Every down for a solid 60 minutes of game time, whether your team is on offense or defense – and regardless of what the scoreboard says – you will see 11 teammates working together toward a common goal.

That makes me think of you, the members of our St. Tammany Quality Network team. Individually, our STQN member-physicians come from varied disciplines and boast an array of skills and backgrounds, but all are united under the common goal of always putting the patient first. That fundamental philosophy is, quite simply, the best way to ensure positive outcomes for our patients.

For that reason, an ongoing focus for the STQN leadership team going forward will be emphasizing the “hand-off” between network physicians, ensuring specialists have the proper tools to communicate easily and effectively with patients’ primary care physicians – and, in turn, ensuring quality patient care.

That’s no small thing, but there’s a reason “quality” is right there in our organization’s name.

Thank you for your continued vigilance in delivering quality care to our community – and thank you for being a valued part of our STQN team.

Gratefully,

Joan M. Coffman
President and CEO, St. Tammany Health System
