COVINGTON, La. –– St. Tammany Quality Network presented its 2021 third-quarter Medical Director’s Award to Dr. Gabrielle Givens for achieving outstanding patient results for chronic disease management.

“Dr. Givens has achieved remarkable success in improving her patients’ health,” said Dr. Michael K. Hill, STHS vice president for quality and utilization management. “Our goal at St. Tammany Health System is to improve hypertension, diabetes and cholesterol control. Dr. Givens and all our STQN adult primary care physicians have done a remarkable job attaining these goals despite some significant challenges. We are so fortunate to have her in our community.”

Patient adherence to cancer screenings (mammograms, colonoscopy, prostate and cervical cancer) and close monitoring of chronic disease are key to improved population health. Delayed chronic care management can place patients ask risk of complications in the future. Patients affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic or recent weather events should reschedule routine care to ensure continued good health.

Patients are encouraged to work with their primary care provider regarding health concerns and annual wellness visits. STHS primary care physicians are available via in-person and virtual visits. Patients can use MyChart, schedule on StTammany.health or call 985-898-4001.

Dr. Givens is a board-certified family medicine physician with the STPN Mandeville clinic. A native of Franklinton, Dr. Givens completed a residency at LSU Rural Family Residency Program in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

STQN continuously strives to define and improve the healthcare needs of our community. Promoting wellness is a key component of this quest.
