Medicine isn’t the only thing St. Tammany Health System pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Miles practices.
A concert cellist, Dr. Miles will be playing Carnegie Hall this weekend – virtually.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Miles has been practicing cello since she was 10 years old. And although she decided in college to pursue medicine rather than music as a profession, she’s never lost her love for playing.
And so, in addition to performing locally as part of what she calls her “other job,” since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic Dr. Miles has been playing with the National Virtual Medical Orchestra, which is a group of physician musicians who teamed up to perform online together.
Recently, the group was asked to record a performance – which they did separately, each recording to a click track in the socially distanced safety of their own homes – that will be livestreamed from Carnegie Hall tonight (Thursday, Dec. 17) beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT.
