COVINGTON – St. Tammany Quality Network (STQN) is pleased to announce that Dr. Joseph Landers and Dr. Andrew Baier have been awarded the Northshore organization’s Medical Director’s Award for the second quarter of 2025, in recognition of their contributions to the development and implementation of Structured Interdisciplinary Bedside Rounding (SIBR) at St. Tammany Health System.
SIBR is conducted each weekday across most patient units at the health system’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital. This interdisciplinary approach brings together representatives from Hospital Medicine, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Case Management and Nursing for regular visits with each patient and their families to discuss a summary of the patient’s treatment plan, clinical progress, expected discharge date and discharge destination.
Each of the hospital’s nursing units has a dedicated hospitalist assigned to the treatment team, which facilitates communication, enhances patient care, improves patient satisfaction and optimizes clinical outcomes.
“This initiative has significantly transformed care delivery at St. Tammany Health System. Hospitalists no longer need to travel from unit to unit to provide patient care,” said Dr. Michael Hill, STQN medical director. “Patients, nurses, the care team and hospitalists all appreciate this change to a truly patient-centered care model.”
Dr. Landers, an LSU Medical School graduate who has served STHS for 26 years, is the medical director of the health system’s Hospital Medicine program and an active member of several STQN committees.
Dr. Baier, with 13 years at STHS, is the health system’s associate director of Hospital Medicine. He also graduated from LSU Medical School, followed by an internal medicine residency. Dr. Baier formerly served as chief of staff at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Drs. Landers and Baier on this well-deserved recognition.
