Dear Partner in Care,
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the STQN annual meeting on April 3 at the Southern Hotel in Covington.
It is always exciting to reconnect with others who share the same mission of caring for the community. As enlightening as the main presentations always are, I never fail to learn something from listening in on what passes for small talk at our STQN gatherings.
Of course, such events always bring talk of sports, food, the weather and other peculiarly South Louisiana interests. I am particularly intrigued, however, when our STQN member-physicians start talking shop – sharing knowledge, concerns and, most of all, a passion for the health of our community.
As you know, STQN was founded more than a decade ago to improve the quality of healthcare here in the toe of Louisiana’s boot, and it accomplishes that in a number of ways. The fellowship it fosters among our medical community, however, strikes me as among the most meaningful and rewarding.
I do not need to remind you of the myriad challenges that face us in today’s healthcare landscape, but as long as we continue to see ourselves as members of a community, all pulling in the same direction, I feel that we are setting ourselves up for collective success.
I look forward to seeing you at the next STQN get-together (August’s session on social media strikes me as particularly intriguing), and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you in serving our Northshore neighbors with professionalism, clinical expertise and compassion.
Gratefully,
