Dear Partners in Care,
As you know, good healthcare begins with listening.
Sometimes that means listening to a patient describe symptoms that do not fit the expected pattern. Sometimes it means listening to colleagues whose perspectives help us see a challenge in a new way. And sometimes it means listening to families whose experiences inspire lasting change.
That is precisely what happened with Angel’s Law, which was approved during the Louisiana Legislature’s recently concluded session (and featured on the cover of this quarter’s issue of our Heart to Heart magazine). Inspired by local families’ real-world experiences, and strengthened through the collaboration of healthcare professionals, advocates and lawmakers, it is a powerful reminder that listening is often the first step toward improving care.
Angel’s Law was one of several noteworthy healthcare measures legislators tackled. While each addresses a different aspect of healthcare – from physician workforce development and medical education to reimbursement, claims reform and the responsible use of artificial intelligence – they all reflect an ongoing effort to strengthen healthcare for both patients and those who provide it.
To help you stay informed, we have included a summary of several key healthcare bills in today’s newsletter. I hope you will take a few moments to review them and consider how they may affect your practice and your patients.
Of course, healthcare will continue to evolve, shaped by new ideas, emerging technologies and changing policies. Through it all, I remain grateful for your dedication to listening, learning and working to ensure the people of our community have access to world-class healthcare, close to home.
Gratefully,
