Dear Partners in Care,
I was pleased to see a focus on diabetes care in this quarter’s Quality Insights newsletter. Part of the reason for that, of course, is because diabetes is such an issue here in South Louisiana, where indulgent living is part of our culture, for better and for worse.
But there’s also the fact that St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital was recently honored by the Leapfrog Group and the American Diabetes Association as a Recognized Leader in Caring for People Living with Diabetes. It is the only Louisiana hospital, and one of just 36 across the country, to earn the honor.
In addition to celebrating our hospital care team’s commitment to the safety and well-being of hospitalized people living with diabetes, this recognition also underscores the symbiotic relationship the hospital has with you, our community physicians.
If our primary care physicians are the quarterbacks of their patients’ care, as is often said, and if our specialists are akin to a football team’s skill players, consider our hospital your offensive line, standing ready to support and aid you in our shared mission of caring for our Northshore neighbors.
I cannot speak for you, but I can speak for our health system in saying it is a privilege to work alongside you in realizing that mission. I pray that feeling is mutual.
Thank you, as always, for your dedication to ministering to the healthcare needs of our community, and thank you for being such a key part of our STQN team.
Gratefully,
