COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System has again been ranked among the best places to work in the New Orleans metro area by CityBusiness magazine. The 2025 honor is the fourth consecutive year the health system has been included on the publication’s annual Best Places to Work list.
As in previous years, the health system was recognized in the largest of the three sized-based categories, reserved for organizations with 250 employees or more. STHS is one of only four organizations honored in the large-employer category.
Founded in 1954 as St. Tammany Parish Hospital, St. Tammany Health System today employs 3,000-plus people at more than two dozen clinics and specialty sites across the Northshore. It is the second-largest employer in St. Tammany Parish.
“While I am privileged to accept this award on behalf of St. Tammany Health System, this is not my award,” STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman said. “This award belongs to the more than 3,000 healthcare professionals who dedicate themselves every day to providing the best, most compassionate care for our Northshore friends and neighbors.
“Their embracing of our Culture of Caring is truly the beating heart of our organization – and, indeed, of our broader community. I am honored to work alongside them each and every day, and I am grateful to see their strength and selflessness recognized with this honor.”
The annual Best Workplaces program was created in 2003 by New Orleans CityBusiness and Best Companies Group to identify and honor the top employers in the New Orleans metro area when it comes to workplace excellence.
To be considered for the recognition for 2025, companies had to have a facility in the New Orleans area, have at least 15 employees working in the New Orleans area, and be in business a minimum of one year.
Honorees are chosen based on a questionnaire of benefits offered, including average salary, healthcare, paid time off and employee programs, coupled with an online survey of employees. These data points are compiled into a final rank to determine the winners.
This year, 60 companies were recognized across all three size categories. They were in print in the Dec. 15, 2025, issue of New Orleans CityBusiness.
The announcement comes six months after The Times-Picayune honored St. Tammany Health System as among the best places to work on the Northshore in the publication’s inaugural Best of St. Tammany Awards.
